Supreme Judicial Council Explores Developing Guide to Combat Extortion and AI Deepfakes

The Supreme Judicial Council discussed on Wednesday the preparation of a guiding manual outlining the nature of digital evidence for cyber extortion crimes, in a move to enhance the handling of modern digital challenges. The Council hosted a meeting concerning the nature of digital evidence for cyber extortion, attended by the Judicial Supervisor, Judge Nasser Omran, representing the Supreme Judicial Council. Representatives from the National Security Service, the National Cyber Security Center, and the Media and Communications Commission also participated, reflecting institutional cooperation in this field. The meeting focused on discussing the preparation of a comprehensive guiding manual. This manual will clarify the nature of digital evidence for cyber extortion crimes and include the operational mechanisms of AI algorithms capable of deepfakes, as well as the principles for dealing with them judicially. This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of judicial performance and elevate the level of institutional work in combating these complex crimes.
