Trade Minister Mustafa Nazar announced, during a press conference held today Friday in Erbil province, the commencement of disbursing financial dues to Kurdistan Region farmers for the past season, affirming that this step comes in implementation of directives from Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi and his continuous follow-up on this file.
The minister revealed that the transfer process for the dues was launched two days ago, expressing his commitment to completing payment of the remaining amounts in full within the coming days.
Regarding the development of work mechanisms, Nazar indicated the adoption of a new electronic pre-booking system aimed at organizing the wheat crop reception process and overcoming previous logistical challenges, with this measure seeking to end long waiting periods for farmers, reducing the financial burdens and additional costs they previously faced.
Regarding developments in the current season, the minister explained that the ministry will work on receiving the quantities of wheat produced in the Region's provinces according to the approved agricultural plan and the available storage capacity in grain silos, stressing the strategic role of farmers in supporting the country's food security file, and noting that an integrated plan will be developed in the coming days to deal with surplus production after securing the state's needs and emergency reserve share.
