United States Plans to Multiply Munitions and Air Defense System Production Within Three Years

The United States is set to significantly increase its production volume of certain types of munitions and air defense systems, with plans to multiply these manufacturing capabilities severalfold over the next two to three years. Pete Hegseth, a prominent U.S. defense official, affirmed this initiative as part of bolstering America's defense industrial base. Speaking at the International Security Forum "Shangri-La Dialogue" in Singapore, Hegseth indicated that hundreds of new production lines would commence operations within the specified timeframe. He clarified that Washington aims to elevate munitions output by two, three, or even four times its current level. Hegseth further explained that the growing demand for systems such as Patriot, THAAD, SM-3 missiles, and Tomahawk, whether for the United States or its allies, would not be met merely by adding extra shifts at existing military factories. Instead, the U.S. intends to construct entirely new manufacturing plants, facilitating a three to five-fold increase in production to ensure the rising demand for these critical systems is met.
