The international football governing body has announced that the United States will host the inaugural Women's Club World Cup, marking a historic step to elevate women's football globally. The tournament will feature 16 teams representing six continental federations, with 13 teams qualifying directly for the group stage, while three others will compete in a playoff phase. Participants will be determined based on club performances in major continental competitions from 2024 to 2027. The selection of the United States was based on its advanced infrastructure and services, as well as the strong interest in women's football within the country, as revealed during the governing body's council meeting held in Zurich on October 15. The competition is set to become a regular event held every four years, following the initial announcement of plans to launch it in 2025.
