The US Army is set to invest 2.2 billion dollars in the construction of nuclear reactors at five military bases nationwide, a move aimed at enhancing energy self-sufficiency. Ground Forces Command has selected the firms responsible for building small modular nuclear reactors at five of its bases, earmarking the 2.2 billion dollars for this purpose. The Command emphasized its allocation of up to 2.2 billion dollars for the development and operation of these small reactors within its installations. Selected companies for the project include Antares Nuclear, BWXT Advanced Technologies, General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems, Radiant Industries, and Westinghouse Government Services. Construction of these reactors will take place at military bases in Georgia, Kentucky, New York, North Carolina, and Texas. An official document outlines Ground Forces Command's plans to deploy over 20 small modular reactors across its bases. This initiative aims to ensure continuous operation of military facilities, even during widespread electricity outages.
