The American aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln is preparing to dock in Thailand next week, following its departure from the Middle East. This comes after a prolonged mission in the region, which included a period of tension during the war with Iran. A Thai official stated on Tuesday that the carrier, carrying approximately 5,000 sailors and marines, will arrive in Thailand for "rest and recreation" after its long and arduous sea journey. The USS Abraham Lincoln departed the Middle East on Saturday, having spent over 200 consecutive days at sea without a port visit. This marks the longest continuous period at sea for a US carrier in the modern era, according to Democratic lawmakers. This stop in Thailand comes amidst reports of concerns regarding the crew's mental health and deteriorating conditions aboard the carrier due to its extended mission. No immediate comment was issued by the Thai Navy regarding the anticipated visit.
