In a move aimed at achieving job stability, Baghdad Governor Atwan Al-Atwani announced today, Monday, that the Governorate is conducting a detailed study of the costs associated with regularizing the contracts and daily wages of its temporary workers. This initiative precedes their submission to the Ministry of Finance. This step follows positive indications from the Ministry of Finance and bodies preparing the 2027 budget, which include promising signals regarding the potential inclusion of contract and daily wage regularization within upcoming budget provisions. Al-Atwani clarified that Baghdad Governorate proactively initiated the study of necessary costs for submission to the Ministry, aiming to provide a genuine opportunity for employees across various sectors to achieve long-awaited job stability. He stressed that working under a daily wage system creates continuous disruption and anxiety for staff. He affirmed all names and lists pertaining to these individuals will be submitted to the Ministry of Finance, with diligent follow-up from relevant authorities to ensure approval. The Governor indicated these lists would encompass all workers, including those in water and sewage departments and self-funded institutions, reiterating that all names will be forwarded to the Ministry to ensure their inclusion in the anticipated decision.
