Iraq's Minister of Education, Abdul Karim Abtan Al-Jabouri, today, Monday, issued a clear call to remove political interference from educational work, emphasizing the critical need to preserve the learning process's independence and correct its trajectory. In a related effort to advance the educational sector, the Minister chaired an extensive meeting. Attendees included Omar Al-Mashhadani, Director General of Educational Supervision, along with the heads of supervision departments across Baghdad and other governorates. The meeting aimed to comprehensively review the state of educational supervision, identify its challenges, and discuss proposals for improving overall performance. During the gathering, Al-Jabouri affirmed that all ministry decisions are based on well-considered educational principles, not arbitrary actions. He urged intensified field visits to schools, particularly those in remote areas, to document their actual conditions and determine their essential needs. He further described educational supervision as the "mature mind" guiding the educational process, underscoring its pivotal role in evaluating performance and correcting the course of education. The Minister demanded that supervisors monitor teachers' conduct, performance, and appearance to restore their rightful prestige and esteemed status. He held the Ministry fully responsible to society for any inappropriate behavior that might occur within educational institutions. Concluding his remarks, Al-Jabouri advocated for strengthening the role of parent and guardian councils in school affairs, while reiterating the necessity of keeping any political interventions away from educational work, unless directly serving to elevate the educational process and uphold the institution's dignity.
