Lieutenant General Abdul Amir al-Shamari, Director of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces' Office, chaired a crucial meeting on Tuesday to discuss and audit the status of foreign labor in Iraq. This initiative aligns with directives from the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief, aimed at regulating this vital sector. High-level attendees included representatives from the Supreme Judicial Council, the Director General of Civil Status at the Ministry of Interior, and the Director of Residency Affairs. Officials from the National Security and Intelligence Services, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, and the Commander-in-Chief's Office also participated. The session focused on implementing higher leadership directives regarding foreign labor, verifying adherence to legal procedures and prevailing regulations. During the meeting, Lt. Gen. al-Shamari underscored the critical importance of regulating the labor market, ensuring a balance between market demands and Iraq's need for specialized expertise. Participants stressed the necessity of stringent legal action against illegal foreign labor, bolstering scrutiny and oversight by competent authorities to avert potential economic, security, and social repercussions. Al-Shamari concluded by affirming continuous follow-up on this matter, with necessary recommendations to be submitted to the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief for appropriate action.
