Iraqi Minister of Justice, Khalid Shwani, affirmed on Tuesday Iraq's desire to complete the procedures for signing a prisoner transfer agreement with Tajikistan, within the framework of efforts to strengthen bilateral legal cooperation. This came during his reception of the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan, Zubaidullo Zubaidzoda, where the two sides discussed prospects for expanding joint relations. The meeting specifically focused on finalizing the necessary steps for the conclusion of the prisoner exchange agreement between the two countries. The Ministry of Justice stated in a release that this agreement must align with applicable legal frameworks and international human rights standards, serving mutual interests. During the discussions, Minister Shwani highlighted Iraq's keenness to finalize the agreement and the ministry's desire to broaden cooperation with friendly nations. He noted that these efforts contribute to developing bilateral relations and achieving shared benefits for the two brotherly peoples. For his part, Ambassador Zubaidzoda expressed his country's commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Iraq, particularly in judicial and legal fields. He also affirmed Tajikistan's readiness to complete all necessary procedures for concluding the prisoner exchange agreement between the two nations.
