Interior Ministry Reports Arrest of 94 Suspects and Seizure of 89 Tankers in Fuel Smuggling Crackdown in October

The Interior Ministry announced the arrest of 94 suspects involved in fuel smuggling during the past month of October, along with the seizure of 89 tankers and various vehicles prepared for smuggling operations. Major General Miqdad Miri, head of the ministry's Public Relations Department, stated that the Energy Police Directorate and its affiliated units carried out these operations across the country's provinces, excluding the Kurdistan Region, from October 1 to November 1, 2026. He added that the field efforts also led to raids on eight smuggling dens in the provinces of Karbala, Salahuddin, and Dhi Qar, and the confiscation of over two million liters of fuel products violating regulations during the same period. These measures are part of ongoing efforts to safeguard the national oil wealth and secure the economy by combating smuggling activities that negatively impact national resources.
