National Security Forces Dismantle Criminal Networks and Arrest 25 Suspects on Various Corruption Charges

The National Security Forces announced on Tuesday the execution of extensive security operations that resulted in the arrest of 25 suspects accused of bribery, forgery, and fraud, alongside the dismantling of several criminal networks across various provinces. The operations were conducted based on precise intelligence and official judicial approvals, covering the provinces of Diyala, Baghdad, Maysan, Babil, Diwaniya, and Basra. The arrested individuals included government employees and members of criminal networks. Among the dismantled groups were a land forgery network in Diyala and another involved in forging martyr retirement transactions in Baghdad. Officials involved in manipulating state land assessments in Maysan and members of inspection committees in Diwaniya were also apprehended. Additionally, employees caught red-handed in bribery and forgery were seized in Basra and Diyala, including a Basra official who received a $10,000 bribe. The operations also led to the arrest of fraudsters who deceived citizens with false promises of employment within the National Security Forces in Babil and the Ministry of Education in Diwaniya, as well as the dismantling of a sorcery and witchcraft network in Baghdad. Confiscated items included forged financial documents worth billions of dinars, computers, numerous official transactions, files, identification documents, and cash sums. All suspects were detained and referred along with the seized materials to the competent judicial authorities for legal proceedings in accordance with the law.
