The Communications and Media Commission (CMC) announced on Thursday the complete cessation of unauthorized encrypted digital broadcasting systems in Dhi Qar and Maysan provinces. This follows a series of legal and field procedures implemented by the CMC's Southern Region Office in Dhi Qar, targeting violating entities. The Commission affirmed that Dhi Qar province is now free of these unauthorized systems after legal measures were taken against 9 violators, as part of its efforts to regulate broadcasting services. In Maysan, CMC teams completed the file, confirming the absence of any operational unauthorized encrypted digital broadcasting system, following legal actions against 13 violators. Consequently, the total number of violators against whom legal procedures were initiated in both provinces reached 22, leading to the full termination of unauthorized broadcasting systems there. These steps extend the CMC's broader campaign across the provinces, which previously resulted in the complete elimination of unauthorized digital television broadcasting in Basra, by stopping 4 infringing networks. The CMC emphasized its specialized offices and teams would continue to monitor unauthorized broadcasting systems and take legal action against violators. This aims to ensure the regulation of the broadcasting sector, protect the frequency spectrum, and uphold adherence to the effective controls and regulations.
