The Ministry of Interior, on Thursday, unveiled a summary of a busy week of security, field, and service operations, highlighting key achievements and ongoing challenges. The Ministry also issued a strong warning against the misuse of artificial intelligence to create offensive content, asserting that the law will act against anyone exploiting these technologies or publishing inappropriate material. Colonel Mohammed Ali Al-Hassoun, the official spokesperson for the Ministry, stated that this overview reflects continuous efforts to protect citizens and enhance security. In institutional support, Senior Undersecretary Hussein Al-Awadi visited the Police College, stressing that regulations are the sole criterion for eligibility, without exception. Al-Awadi also toured the Security Forces Court of Cassation, emphasizing the need to expedite case resolution and improve efficiency to uphold justice. Furthermore, he met with families of martyrs, the wounded, and humanitarian cases, directing that their requests be addressed, aligning with the Ministry's concern for its personnel and their families. In direct security operations, the Ministry's Agency for Police Affairs completed over two thousand local police duties, including fingerprint collection and crime scene investigations. The agency registered over three thousand light weapons during the week and confiscated approximately 180 others. To enhance border security, the Border Guard Command continued installing surveillance cameras, fences, and inflatable barriers, equipping solar energy systems, erecting towers, and undertaking construction and renovation of border outposts and annexes. In combating the drug scourge, the General Directorate for Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances seized over seventeen kilograms of illicit drugs and arrested a number of suspects, while maintaining its public awareness efforts. To protect national resources and counter oil smuggling, the Energy Police Command apprehended 26 suspects, seized tankers and various vehicles used for illicit transport, and raided a hideout, confiscating non-compliant oil products. Responding to incidents, the Civil Defense Directorate successfully extinguished over sixty fires and conducted three successful rescue operations, with its teams continuing to clear war remnants. On the service front, the Directorate of Civil Status, Passports, and Residency printed over 52,000 electronic passports and 94,000 national ID cards. Concurrently, the General Traffic Directorate issued over 94,000 license plates, annual vehicle registrations, and driving licenses. Concluding its briefing, the Ministry highlighted its monitoring of indecent content, noting the exploitation of AI to produce offensive video clips. It reaffirmed that the law will pursue perpetrators, urging citizens to report such content via the "Balligh" platform on the "Ain Al-Iraq" website, to help curb these phenomena and facilitate legal action.
