The Ministry of Oil attributed the suspension of Iraqi crude oil supplies to Jordan to technical issues regarding specification compatibility with Jordanian refining facilities. Ministry spokesman Saleem al-Rikabi stated that Jordanian refineries previously relied on supplies of Kirkuk light crude, which suited their operational nature. However, required quantities of this specific grade are currently unavailable, leading to the cessation of export shipments. Addressing potential alternatives, al-Rikabi explained that Iraq offered to supply Basra Medium crude instead of Kirkuk light. Nevertheless, the Jordanian side indicated that its domestic refining units cannot operate using this particular type of crude oil.
