The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed hope on Sunday that the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq would serve as a crucial step toward strengthening bilateral relations between Baghdad and Tehran. Meanwhile, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei emphasized that reopening the Strait of Hormuz remains conditional upon specific measures Washington must undertake, primarily halting its obstruction of Iranian maritime navigation. Baghaei also dismissed circulating reports claiming Tehran agreed to inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency, describing them as entirely baseless. He clarified that Iran did not address the nuclear dossier during recent discussions, reiterating its continuous compliance with the Non-Proliferation Treaty. Furthermore, he noted that Washington's proposal mirrors previous frameworks by focusing heavily on nuclear matters, affirming that Iran never shied away from diplomacy and consistently pursues peaceful solutions.
